Harmful
Effects
of Transcendental Meditation ®
|
This section focuses on the reported harmful effects resulting from
Transcendental Meditation (TM), the TM-Sidhi program, and their
associated practices.
Associated practices include "special techniques",
"advanced techniques", "rounding" and other practices promoted by
the TM Organization, some of which significantly
increase the regular amount of time spent in their "meditation program". A TM
program which started as 20 minutes, twice a day, may easily become several
hours a day. For example, group TM-Sidhi participation at the "Golden Domes" at MUM
involves two hours in the morning and another two hours in the evening.

We invite you to review the scientific research abstracts,
the excerpts
from books and
articles, and the personal accounts describing the harmful effects
suffered by TM practitioners.
Reported negative effects include muscle twitches, convulsions,
headaches, fatigue, sleep disorders, inability to focus -- feeling "spacey",
anxiety, panic attacks, depression, dissociation, depersonalization,
nervous breakdown, and suicidal ideation.
